1995 Island Packet 40 | Second Spray

Port Egmont, Grenada

Description

The time has come to part with our live aboard home of the past eleven years. We will be returning to Canada to start a new life on terra firma as CLODs (Cruisers Living On Dirt).
We bought our dear girl in 2010 while we were working in Bermuda. We moved aboard and sailed around the archipelago for 3 years while we fitted her out for living aboard and making offshore passages. Our dream of cruising the Caribbean began with a passage to Sint Maarten, West Indies. In the eight years since we have sailed up and down the island chain as far west as the Spanish Virgins and south to Grenada annually for safe haven during hurricane season. We have had many adventures, fabulous sailing days and met wonderful friends from all walks of life and countries around the world. We’ve encountered pretty robust conditions and never had to worry that we were safe. We knew our Island Packet could easily handle whatever came our way.
Second Spray offers all the amenities and equipment for a comfortable life afloat. The storage and tankage are more than adequate for spending days on end in remote anchorages. She has been upgraded to live off the grid in comfort indefinitely (eg solar panels and water maker). Built in 1995, she’s as beautiful as ever. A tribute to Bob Johnson and his team both in design and execution of building a solid blue water cruiser. Second Spray has had four owners. The first owned her in the US for three years. Her second owner, a Bermudian, owned her for nearly eight years & eventually imported her into Bermuda after spending time sailing her between Bermuda & in the Virgins. He sold her to upgrade to an IP420. The third owners lived aboard her in the Dockyard marina & would head out on weekend trips for the next five years in Bermuda. In 2010, on our return from a vacation in the BVI joining friends on their IP485, there she was for sale. We knew from sailing and staying on board their IP just what they were about. One week later we owned
this wonderful boat. Since that time Second Spray has spent most of her time in the
Caribbean with the first three years in Bermuda under our ownership. Her aluminum tanks are in excellent condition having very limited exposure to chlorinated water because of her cruising grounds. Her chainplates including the headstay bolts were all replaced in 2012 in Bermuda along with the standing rigging, lifelines and stanchions. She’s had many significant and recent upgrades. She is turnkey and ready to head out on her next blue water adventure!
Located in Grenada, West Indies she’s already in some of the best cruising grounds there are! Island Packets are an American made production boat with many models made and still being built today under parent company Hake Marine in Largo, Florida. Attached is a link at the end of this document to some reviews and the Island Packet website. The quality of workmanship on these boats is what makes their owners, if they want a larger or smaller vessel, keep coming back to Island Packet.
