1985 Cheoy Lee 38 | "B" Hoppy

Redondo Beach, CA, USA

Description

From shipbuilder Cheoy Lee, one of the world’s most renown shipbuilders for over 100 years, and still commanding a very large presence in the shipbuilding industry today, came this beautiful yacht. It was constructed to a very high level of quality, which many of the Cheoy Lee sailboats built during the era of this one, were built to Lloyd’s 100A standards. The high quality of construction is evident as one enters the cabin to see the old world level of craftsmanship in the teak joinery. It is also evident in the use of high quality hardware above decks and below. This boat was built to take you across the ocean or out for an afternoon day sail in total comfort and safety. She was a class winner several years ago in the annual Newport/Ensanada sailboat race. With a complement of Quantum carbon fiber reinforced sails that are in “like new” condition, along with a Harken headsail furling system and 2 speed self-tailing primary winches, she is very easy to sail and has been single handedly sailed by her current owner, whom is over 70 years old, on several occasions. She boat has been very well cared for over the years, including the replacement of the standing rigging just a few years ago. She is also very well equipped, including a spinnaker, Garmin GPS, B&G Wind/Knot Meter, Horizon VHS, Adler Barbour refrigerator, gimbal mounted CNG stove/oven, anchor and windlass and a 32 hp Universal diesel that fires up every time and runs very smoothly. With 5 deck hatches and 5 opening ports, you always have plenty of ventilation. You will be hard pressed to find a boat of this era and of this quality that has been as well cared for and sails as well as this one.
