For Sale - Vegas - One of a Kind 2005 Potter 19 "Blue Water Lay Up Hull" with One Piece
$ 1000.00 Ruddercraft Blue Water Rudder.

Dollars vs Options and Custom Modifacations, this is the best P 19 on the market, hands down.  Completely sorted a fitted. Ready tt sail.

This boat has been specifically modified for Safe Ocean, Coastal and Island Cruising and Great Lakes ( our inland seas )  adventures with safety and contingency as job # one!!

I have spent hundreds of hours and a lot of money to get everything to 100% safe, ship shape condition. This is by no means a project boat. Most used Potters need a lot money and  TLC investment.   This one is very special!

It is truly a Hot Rod Potter 19!!

Everything is set up to be controlled from the cockpit. At 70, I am not a solo sailing advocate myself, but this is a perfect single handed configuration without needing to leave the cockpit to go forward or below to operate sails, switches or electronics.

Electrical Wiring Mod:

Completely Rewired, where the distribution and buss components are mounted in 2 watertight pelican cases on the interior starbord cabin/ cockpit bulkhead.

There is a water tight marine glove box on the cockpit side of the bulkhead that houses the Main Power disconect, voltmeter and switch panel. So all electrics are controlled from the cockpit!

When I first bought the boat I complete gutted all wiring for this configuration and used all wire sizes to standard code. Example: # 6 wire for all battery 12 dc run to busses. Safe wiring and code compliance means a fire on the water will not occur due to wires overheating! The factory wiring and component locations on the Potters are hidden.

All new wiring is run on the starbord side of the cabin and exposed in plain sight affix to the cabin wall.. Not run under cabinets impossible to access with keel up on the trailer as was the factory install.

There is a new 30,000 lumin horizontal bar bow light that makes it like daylight when docking the boat at night

Fuel System Components:

To eliminate a gas can on the floor of the cockpit deck as a fire safety and tripping hazzard, I purchased a 5 gallon Alum race car fuel tank and perminatly afixted it to the foredeck. Giving a 5 hp Outboard a 10 hr plus motoring range with reserve.

There is a An-6 3/8" anodized alum fuel shut off valve mounted on the tank. The fuel is run to the stern via a 3/8" fuel line also using AN-6 anodized connectors. The fuel in is protected by SS braded sheilding exterior as used on race cars, mounted to the weather deck every 12" with SS one hole brackets with rubber lining on the port side right next to the cabin verticle as not to present a trip hazzard or wear to the fuel line from foot traffic going forward.

Two Outboarts Motors:

Two 2005 Honda 4 Stroke Outboards: Both motors start easy and run very smooth. Both motors have just been completelyserviced in Nov and are ready for the new season.

Two Motor Saftey Back Up Configuration:

The main reason for the aux motor number 2 is to provide back up power if the # 1 fails. So you can be assured to reach a safe harbor under power in no wind situation and will not ever have to steer into a crowed marina under sail or require an expensive tow, or call the Coast Guard for assistance.

Both motors can be run simultaneously, but doing so only produces an extra knot. It does give more torque power, and that can be useful when trying to overcome current or tide forces and is very helpful when towing a vessel in distress.

Stainless Steel Stern Pipe Gantry.

For mounting and storing Marine Electronics and an elevated flange for a future Radar Dome Antena.

There are two watertight Pelican boxes for the marine electronics right at the helm.

The 2024 GPS Chart Plotter and 2024 Standard Horizon 25 watt Marine Radio close to the tiller and easily viewed by the skipper without moving from the helm while sailing.

Cabin Interior Mod Features:

1. 750 watt 2024 Microwave oven replacing the camping stove with propane which I saw as a fire Hazzard in a confined space. This is very safe and convenient for cooking. General cooking, making coffee and warming up leftovers. Very efficient and when used with disposal utensils, plates, bowels and cups require no clean up of pots, pans or Coffee Pots after meals.

2. 110 volt and 12v output Eco Flow River Pro 2 Battery Generator with solor pannal or 110v charging capabilities. Lot of power!

Coleman Ice Chest.

Cushions are in very good shape and the boat has been in a desert environment for many years, so no mold or funny smells guaranteed.

2 Cockpit cushions purchase in 2024.

Sails:

Both sails are in excellent condition. No sign of chaffing or repairs with great sail shape. See pics.

JIB Roller furling system for Genoa is in great working condition.

The main is the original with the Potter Logo and Hull number 1545 on it. It is 5 oz dacron. The jiffy reefing system riging is sorted and fully operational with the boom boom vang and sail sheets.

This boat at one time was not sailed for 7 years after owner passed before I bought it. So low time on these sails. Being a trailer sailor boat if you estimate the amount of outings over the years it is very low. UV is the enemy of sails and these sails have spent 98 % of there life stowed and covered.

The forsail is a 140 Genoa and is not original Potter jib.

Both sails show good shape and show no repair work ever. See pics

Bimini and covers:

HD Premium Stainless Steel Tubing Binini Frame in great shape and has a zippered cover. Not a cheap Aluminum frame.

Also includes main sail cover and tiller cover!

Swim Ladder:

When I installed the starbord side engine, the ladder was moved to the aft starbord side of the boat. It has two heavy duty thick rubber D style dock fenders to protect it. See pics

Rudder:

The boat has 1000 dollar Ruddercraft One Piece HDPE Bluewater Rudder. There is a special mounting area designed on the gantry system in the cockpit for storing and traveling as the rudder must be removed while trailering.

This rudder performs very well in larger waves and swells especially in a following sea weather helm steering situation. We have put her to the test several times in the Pacific and the 1000 bucks is worth every penny IMO.

Bottom Paint:

The blue Interlux paint is in very good condition and because it is a trailer sailor not left in a slip, it should last for many more years.

Trailer:

Since I bought the boat in 2023, I have invested 2400 bucks in trailer upgrades alone.

1. Upgraded from 2000 to 3500 lb axel, with brand new hubs, bearings and seals .

2. New 14" Wheels. New 10 ply rated radials. These HD 65 psi road trailer tires are class D. They are M rated safe to 84 mph. Plus spare.

3. I have built 2 trailer tounge extensions. One 5 foot for launching at 90% of ramps encountered and a 2nd 4 footer that connects with hitch pins to fit the most shallow of ramps or launch into a shallow sloped bank. Lake Mead has very shallow slope ramp and it works well with the 9 foot set up.

As the best security feature, If you park the boat somewhere, you can take the extension off in 30 seconds and take it with you. With no ball hitch reciever, no one can steal the boat!!

When I first got the boat I replaced the smaller tires with brand new ones and had 2 blow outs within a 600 miles because exceeding 60 mph on the 15 from Vegas to Los Angles with the smaller footprint tires creating excessive heat. IMO the small tires a not road worthy. These new larger wider radials can handle 75 mph all day long with ease. Lessons learned. So when we installed the new 3500 lb axel it was rigged upside down giving us the tire clearance in the wheel well so the trailer is also a hot rod! LOL!

I was planning on traveling back home to Lake Michigan next July for a 10 day coastal cruise. I have complete confidence in the trailer set up and tire set up going the distance without a problem. I would never attempt doing a 4000 mile cross country Round Trip over the Rockies with those small thin tires. It would be a fool's endeavor to try. This trailer set up will perfom on long trips.

Title and Registration:

I live in Nevada and the boat is Titled and Registered in Cali which is allowed. The title is free and clear, can be easily transfered and boat registration sticker is paid till end of 2025. The trailer has a California Forever Plate so no need for annual sticker fees.

Mast raising system:

I Custom Designed and fab welded a 6061 alum schedule 40 pipe gin pole with female collector 2 bolted to the lower end of the mast for raising. Also included is a 500 lb single line ratchet winch.

Anchor:

One original galvanized Danforth with chain rode a 75' of 1/2" nylon. A anchor mounting bracket is welded on the pulpet. The bow has a SS fairlead roller bracket to protect the bow while retrieving the anchor.

2 dock bumpers and dock lines included.

Fit and Appearance Finish:

The hull is very sound and has never been damaged or repaired.

The boat is in Las Vegas.

Reson for Selling.

When I bought this boat I figured it was the last boat I would buy as I am now 70. All my kids are now moving to Vegas so now I have to roll my new situation with changing my boat to fit 5 to 6 people. I want to teach my kids how to sail. The P 19 is only good for 4 max! I just purchased a Catalina 22 with a wing keel.

I have spent many thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours refitting this boat with saftey and contingency on the water as the primary objectives.

I am ask for only the money i have invested in this boat. I have not factored in one penny for my time and effort in this price.. You know going in that doing thus stuff is a labor of love as a Hobby that you never get compensated for. As my big brother Johnny always said, the next guy gets all the sweat equity value for free! This is a great 2005 Hull!

Asking Price:

$ 9300.00. Or 8700 without battery generator and microwave.

Note:  If you don't want the Battery Generator and Microwave I can remove it and the sale price would be $ 8700.00  if you don't plan on camping.

Note:

I have 2 boats and one must go.  This is an opportunity to buy a fully sorted and modified Hot Rod P 19 with all the upgrade, goodies and impeccable maintenance.

Call 847 641 0276 to schedule an inspection!

This boat is decked out ready for Ocean crusing in all details, sorted and ready to sail!
The West Wight Potter 19 in my opinion is the best pocket cruising trailer sailor in its class hands down!

Thanks for looking,

Rick in Vegas
