About:
When Neel trimarans set-out to build the world’s finest cruising trimarans, they envisioned a boat with slender hulls, lightweight and stiff construction, and generous sail area, aiming for those keen sailors who enjoy life under canvas, and not under motor. The Neel 45 has proven to be just that, winning numerous awards and trans-ocean rallys, and developed a cult-like following in that process.
Construction:
Panda ROSSO is hull number 16 of the 45’ line, built in the heart of the Brittany region of ship building, La Rochelle, France, under the design of Joubert, Nivelt and Mercier. She is constructed using a foam core sandwich technique which encapsulates two layers of glass in a closed cell foam core, resulting in a stiff, lightweight structure.
Sailplan:
Eric Bruneel, who launched Neel trimarans envisioned a performance blue water cruising sailboat with a sailplan easily handled by a couple, or short handed crew. Thus, Panda ROSSO is equipped with two furling headsails, a larger Genoa, and a smaller Jib, plus a large square top, full batten main with two reefs and all lines leading aft. Spinnakers are flown from a carbon fiber bowsprit, of which two asymmetrics in socks are inventoried.
Layout:
Panda ROSSO offers three private staterooms with two full sized heads with showers. The port side stateroom offers an in-suite head and shower, while the starboard offers a guest-head and shower. Galley is located central with a three burner stove, oven, and two basin sink. A forward facing navigation station with panoramic views is a highlight for those keen passagemakers. A generous sette is to starboard and a private double cabin forward.
