1978 O'Day 30 | Santana

Sarasota

Description

1978 Bill O'Brien Oceanic 30 Mk II Ketch-rigged Catamaran for sale. Priced for quick sale, we need to go back to Canada for health reasons.

Santana is a stable ketch-rigged 30 ft sailing catamaran. She is tough and family-safe, and is an excellent live-aboard with a beautiful interior. She has 2 separate double cabins + large saloon, galley and head. She has a shallow draft; great for Florida and the Bahamas.

Catamarans are so much more comfortable than equivalent mono-hulls even in the roughest weather. They sail level instead of healed over which makes living and sail handling so much easier; you can cook in a gale! The bridge deck is on the same level as the cockpit - no companionway steps to negotiate.

She includes two Yanmar diesel engines and a ketch/cutter sail plan for huge flexibility for all weather conditions. She also has a dinghy with a 5HP engine

This design was one of the first to sail a family around Cape Horn; see the book Children of Cape Horn by author Rose Swale. https://www.amazon.com/Children-Cape-Horn-Rosie-Swale/dp/0236177133
